Goodbye Heartbeat FM
With this weekend’s sunny weather as well as scorching Monday and Tuesday before it’ll become very cold again many of us would have had got used to the warm and comfortable whether and some no doubt will be glad to see the back of it. However everything seems to be changing at moment. For those of you familiar with 106-109 FM that there is no doubt that the change to heartbeat was something that unsettled a lot of radio limners when it switched a while back. I’m quite attached to this radio station that I ended up doing my work experience there, it was exceedingly enjoyable and lots of fun however it saddened me when I finally found out that they officially had changed to the Jack format. I’m someone who’ll listen to the radio for the personal touch from a presenter; although a lot of heartbeat was originally pre-recorded I still liked it as at least even these pre-recordings were real DJs whereas Jack FM seams to be simply just music with cheesy one-liners. I was also quite disappointed to hear that they got rid of a lot of their DJ staff and I can’t say much for the new logo ever. I first spotted that there might be something happening when the in the car I noticed it was transmitting the name Jack, I assumed that there was some sort of pirate interference and that Jack was a shortened version for hi-jack-ing the frequency. I know there are a lot of people out there who like the new format however line of the opinion that if you want to listen to music nonstop then you should simply get your MP3 or iPod stick it on shuffle.
